I love finding local gems in the midst of a world with so many big franchises and money making machines. I recently moved and remembered this sweet local nursery only a few minutes away from my house and decided to pop in for a bit. While being nosy with a friend of mine, I realized I had stumbled across an amazing piece of property right in the heart of our city! SO many trees, beautiful plants, and and old house that had been their for 35 years. The older gentlemen walking around with his dirty hands, loving every minute of being in the sunshine, was surprisingly the owner. Such a sweet man, and after striking up a conversation he didn’t hesitate when I asked if I could shoot on his property.
Now if the crazy rain would stop for a moment, we could enjoy all that the space had to offer. Unfortunately the rain continued but stopped for just a few hours one Monday afternoon, just enough time to enjoy the greenhouse and a few other spots. We loved how relaxing it was being at the Red Onion and even enjoyed spotting a little bunny and field mouse. The greenhouse was my inspiration… it is such a beautiful space of green. No styling, no moving pots around, just enjoying the mossy boards the plants sit upon and the gravel paths that have been walked up and down for years.
The girls sported beautiful gardening hats with fresh blooms as they strolled through the greenhouse. The bride was wearing a gown from the new Kate McDonald line out of South Carolina. I chose marsala with yellows and peaches. It was a beautiful mix of blooms designed by Root Floral. I decided that white cakes wouldn’t do, so I decided on chocolate with rich blooms all around on an old gardening cart out in the field. Overall, I think the inspiration is a fresh mix and super pretty!
