Friendsgiving. Urban Dictionary defines it as : The celebration of Thanksgiving dinner with your friends. This usually occurs on the Wednesday before or the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, since Thanksgiving is usually reserved for family gatherings. We’re not sure who came up with this idea but we totally love it!!
The ability to hang out with people you actually like rather than stress the F out for days with family members who really don’t even get along.. same delicious food… it’s pretty much a win win. With friendsgiving right around the corner, we thought we’d team up with some of our favorites to show you the hands down easiest way to host the best friendsgiving ever.
First up, plan out your meal. You can look back to our post on the perfect dinner party if you need a little refresher. Write up a cute menu, find some adorable little figurines to place on the plates, pick up some fresh flowers and put together an arrangement.. low key, simple and simply lovely.
As our friends were arriving, we decided to go with a simple, but oh so delicious, antipasto platter.. So easy!! If you are lucky enough to have a cheese shop near your house, just give a call a few days ahead, pick it up, unwrap and boom. There you go.
( How delish and beautiful is this antipasto platter?? Big thanks to – Share Cheesebar )
Next up, the main course. We decided to go with the amazing Harbour Trading for ours and went with their Stone Crabs. ( ps- they were just chosen as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things!!! ) What pairs best with stone crabs? A homemade caesar salad and a twice baked potato. We posted step by step directions on how to make the most amazing caesar dressing on our insta. Did you see it? If not, shoot us a message and we’ll email it to you.
Don’t forget the wine. Always have wine. Ha! Here are a few of our favorites
( In most states, you can pick these up at your local Target )
Last but not least, dessert. We opted to do a delicious key lime pie to go with the stone crabs and let me tell you.. it was a HIT! Fresh whipped cream on top.. yes and YES. If you don’t want to make one from scratch and have a Hillstone/Houstons near you, give them a call and ask if you can pick up an entire pie. It is hands down our favorite there is.
( if you have time to make your own, try this: Key Lime Pie with Whipped Coconut Cream )
The best part, is that the entire “prep” took maybe 20 minutes? While you’re heating up the twice baked potatoes, you make the caesar dressing. The rest comes ready to go. With only 20 minutes to prep, it leaves you with an entire evening to enjoy with your friends. Whats better than that???
